Innokin’s Description:

The Ares atomizer is a collaboration between Phil Busardo, Dimitris Agrafiotis, and Innokin. The goal was to create an affordable mouth to lung rebuildable tank atomizer (RTA) that was easy to build, easy to work with, easy to fill and provided an outstanding vape for the mouth to lung (MTL) crowd.

Nicely packaged, the Ares comes neatly packaged. The contents are extensive including spare glass and o-rings, multiple coil building tools, premade coils, wire and cotton. It’s truly pleasant to see a MTL atty that comes complete at a consumer friendly price point.

It’s a two post design. Side screws are easy to work with and firmly trap your coil -whether they are straight wire or thicker Clapton builds.

Easy to fill – the topcap slides instead of swinging and has a solid tactile click in place. I haven’t experienced any leakage or accidental opening of the cap so far. There is a bearing that the cap must slide over to lock in place, so it’s fairly secure.

Airflow is tight – obviously – but you can still do a restricted lung hit. The diffuser is interesting. Located on the air intake just below the coils, the multi-holed diffuser breaks up the airflow and the claim is, it distributes the air over the coil with less turbulence. Reduced bell chamber intensifies the flavour. The bell cap is well sealed to the deck when attached. Adjustable airflow via outer ring – it’s fairly snug and doesn’t have an irritating “free-spin”.

I have two – One was built using the stock coil provided. 1.02 ohms @ 17.5 Watts with 20 mg nic salts. The other was built with a 28/36ni .72 ohm Clapton @ 26 Watts with a 6mg freebase nic. Both vaped really well. Even with 6 mg regular nicotine, you could feel the nic hit.

Satisfying vape. Flavor on point. 4ml capacity. Takes standard 510 drip tip. As a package for $50 Canadian, it’s a great value for MTL vapers. My suggestion is going to be to install Claptons if not using nic salts. Obviously, it will have even more intense flavour. Set chip for high ramp-up and you’ll be fine.

Still, the reduced chamber allows you to use a simple coil without sacrificing your vape. Meant for MTL, but restricted lung is possible. Slow your draw for maximum flavour.

Innokin did a really decent job. Finish isn’t 100% as there are obvious machining marks on the deck and inside surfaces. The outside finish is top-notch though…. Everything is snug and secure. I left one Ares on a mod on it’s side overnight – I experienced no leaking or flooding. I haven’t experienced any seepage from the airflow, nor has there been any weird condensation inside the glass or around the mouth-piece.

It’s really nice to see a “revival” of MTL vaping. Flavour and lower eliquid consumption has always been a priority for many – but the industry seemed to move away from that with 12 coil tanks and whatnot. It’s also nice to see Innokin step up their game and offer something that’s highly functional, practical and value priced.

I think you’d be more impressed with this than some other vape-celeb named gear. I’m often leery about such products but in this case, you have to know Phil and Dimitri wouldn’t risk their reputations on a less than stellar product. A MTL vaper’s “must have”.
